This Work and Study Semester Program offers students pursing a rewarding career in community service the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Spanish culture, learn the language, take transferable courses at the University of Seville in English or Spanish, live with locals or international students, participate in weekly activities and excursions AND make noteworthy contributions to the community by volunteering with non-profit organizations through GlobalEd's internship program.

The University of Seville, founded in 1551, is one of the oldest universities in Spain. It is a state institution under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and one of the largest universities in Spain with over 70,000 students. Whether your interests are games, sports, music, theater or film, the University of Seville coordinates several activities from dance and theatrical clubs, creative writing groups and competitive sports events such as men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball and basketball. Offering courses in both Spanish and English, as international students you will have a wide range of courses to choose from.



As a Work and Study student in Seville, Spain you will be immersed in the local culture from various perspectives: social linguistically, academically and professionally. GlobalEd’s cultural training sessions will prepare you for your personal, academic and professional immersion into the Spanish culture by providing you with a framework for understanding how it to interact with people of different cultural values. You will receive Myers-Briggs training, an invaluable tool in the workplace, to facilitate your interaction with your coworkers and obtain the results you seek by understanding the personalities of the people you work with. Periodic meetings throughout your internship and study abroad experience will help you get the most out of your time abroad as you learn not only how to articulate your experiences in a resume but how to identify those skills which are highly sought out by employers.


As a student you will have different housing options to choose from to match your lifestyle. From self-catered apartments to living with a Spanish family and receiving three meals per day all students will live within a 10-20 minute walk from campus.

Student life

You will also have access to cultural activities such as walking tours of the city, visiting monuments, and joining excursions that will allow you to meet locals and other international students from around the world. As a student you will draw from a stipend which will provide you with the flexibilty to take trips to destinations like Morocco, Granada, Córdoba or Lagos, Portugal.

Trips and Excursions

This program typically includes excursions to the cities of Cordoba (day trip), Granada (overnight) and the Roman ruins of Italica (day trip). However, excursion destinations and travel dates may vary from term to term. Aside from programmed excursions, students often join other international students on independent trips offered by local travel companies. Examples of such excursions are:
