Summer Spanish Language and Emergency Medical Training Camp

Seville, Spain

This five week program in Seville, Spain takes the concept of studying abroad to a new level. As an aspiring medical professional you can now apply a relevant linguistic and cultural experience to your academic discipline. If you’re an undergraduate student or recent graduate considering a career in health care, GlobalEd's EMT program will provide you with intensive pre-hospitalization training in English while you take an intensive Spanish course in accordance with your competency level. As a program participant you will receive 40 hours of intensive Spanish language training converting your knowledge of Spanish into a tool. Pre-hospitalization training includes health care services performed prior to arrival to a hospital including: securing the zone of an accident, assessing the risk of accident victims, stabilizing a victim's neck, extraction from a vehicle, and transporting accident victims through an obstacle course. This is a physically demanding and highly engaging course. Program participants will learn about teamwork, leadership and what it's like to be the victim. Aside from all that great work experience, this program is a full study abroad program including: a two weeks (40 hours) of intensive Spanish language training, life with a local family (full meal plan), comprehensive medical insurance, cultural sensitivity orientation, teamwork and leadership training using Myers Briggs, weekly activities and an excursion stipend. NO KNOWLEDGE OF SPANISH IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROGRAM

Global Education and Career Development Abroad (GlobalEd) has been functioning since 2009 as an educational institution with a special focus on the development of skill sets within the academic discipline of our program participants. GlobalEd designs Career Path Programs by combining the study abroad experience with language learning, leadership training and internships. The resume enhancing benefits of performing an internship abroad can only be seen if you understand how to articulate your experiences and the skills that you have developed to address the needs of your future employer. Upon arrival, you will receive a cultural orientation to provide you with a framework for understanding your own cultural values and those of the local Spanish culture. Our Myers-Briggs training sessions will empower you to utilize your knowledge of personality to facilitate interaction in the workplace and ultimately obtain the results you’re looking for. Finally, one of our program objectives is for you to identify the skill sets you have developed during your internship and articulate them in a resume.

Program participants will live with a local Spanish family and receive three meals per day, weekly laundry and cleaning service. Living with a family will provide opportunities to practice the local language. All students will have an individual room with WIFI, a key to the house and no curfew.
